Cutting clear across calm blue,
we travel through the centuries
around clean corners and
over mountains that hang over us.

It’s a life, slow and quiet
from place to place
and home again.
It’s a life we lead together.

I sleep between fields,
blades of grass shorn sharp and short
or scraped into pieces
by sharper teeth. Sharper teeth.

It’s a life, slow and quiet
from place to place
and home again.
It’s a life we lead together.

When sun passes and rain comes
and cold fades and heat warms,
from in and out, and back again,
it’s a life we lead, regardless of the weather.
