Half My Heart

Half My Heart
There is a boy I know
who owns half my heart,
my own little hero
who saved my life,
with his mothers hair,
his fathers eyes,
and whatever I can give him;
all the answers to his questions,
all the stars I see.
There is a boy I know
who owns half my heart
and saved my life,
demands all my attention,
when we’re together,
has a question for every answer
will grow up when I won’t
and might not love me
as much, when he does.

There is a boy I know
who owns half my heart
he will always love me,
never as much
as I love him.
Saved my life
by mere existence
that can’t be compared,
he can have my heart gladly.
r.l.w
This is a loosely formed Pindaric ode.
